Location: West Midlands
Project Background:
Compton Hospice, a leading healthcare provider in the West Midlands, was awarded a £1.25 million grant by the Department of Health for the redevelopment of the building's interior to provide patients with a new layout, patient hoist system and full redecoration. The senior management team enlisted the help of Hope Studios to manage the project from concept to completion.
Project Solution:
With a particular focus on the benefits of art in healthcare, Hope Studios has transformed the wards and patient lounges at Compton Hospice to create an enriching environment, which centres around the specifically designed pieces of artwork. A glass art screen with small tiles designed by patients, employees and volunteers depicting their 'memories' was installed in the patient's lounge to allow a permanent piece of 'living' artwork to be present in the hospice building.
The work on the interior has exceeded my expectations and feedback from our patients, staff, volunteers and visitors has been glowing. We have more than 22,000 patients and visitors each year that will benefit from these changes, so it will have a major impact on a lot of lives.
